• End hunger one bag at a time

    Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona will be teaming with Edward Jones to help provide meals for struggling families in Arizona. From now until November 8th you can collect non-perishable food items and contribute to Edward Jones’s 8th annual BAG-A-THON! All donations will be taken on November 8th, 2014 from 8:00 am-12:00pm on the corner of La Canada and Lambert drive in Oro Valley. We ask that all donations please be dropped off on November 8th,   during the main collection day. We are very excited to help Edward Jones meet their goal of 100,000 pounds!  *If you need bags for collecting donations, we have Trader Joe's bags at our Resource Centers that you can use.

  • Girl Scout Troop 172 Donates to Diamond Children's Hospital

    Girls Scout Troop 172, from the Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona, raised money through their cookie sales in 2014, to purchase and donate toys and games to Diamond Children’s Child Life Program for children staying at the hospital. The Troop, made up of nine-7th grade girls, wanted to focus on children for their community service project this year and chose to donate toys and games to patients at Diamond Children’s Hospital, to give them something to do and make their time there less frightening. The Troop met with Lori Mitts, Child Life Specialist at Diamond Children’s, to find out what the hospital needed and what would be the safest toys and games to purchase. The girls went shopping with a $550 budget and purchased items that fit all age groups and divided them into packets. The toys…

  • Spotlight on National Young Woman of Distinction, Monique Tinglin

    The National Young Women of Distinction honor is given by Girl Scouts of the USA to the top ten Girl Scout Gold Award recipients whose Take Action projects demonstrated outstanding leadership, had a measureable and sustainable impact, and addressed a local challenge related to a national and/or global issue.
